David's Quilt

My friend Teresa knows I make t-shirt quilts. She asked me to make her son, David, a quilt with his school t-shirts. He graduated last spring and went off to college in the fall.

Teresa brought me the shirts and I spread them out to look at them on my work table. The colors are varied and should make a nice quilt.

The Bosses New Toys

I ordered the feline bosses some new catnip toys called "Snakey Mice". They are long tubes filled with polyfill and catnip, they also have braided tails and ears! Baby was in love immediately and placed with them for a couple hours. Sam walked around them and smelled them, but wouldn't touch the toys. He is more cautious than Baby, but I don't think he will be able to resist the catnip much longer!

Black and White with a Twist of Lime

I enjoy making black and white quilts. Usually I mix in a little red, but this time, I used lime green!

What do you think?

T-Shirt Quilt and Sam

We bought a new coffee maker about a month ago. All kinds of great things are programmable - brew strength, start time. Well, enough of that. I took the coffee maker out of the box, threw the box on the floor while getting all the styrofoam, plastic, twisties off the coffee maker. When I turned around to pick up the box, a cat was in it. So left the box on the floor for Sam and Baby to play with. Planned on picking it up the next day.

The box has migrated to a rug and the cats still play in it. Here is a picture of Sam taken two days ago. He spends hours in this box.

The t-shirt quilt is coming along nicely. A huge part of it is done and it should be completed this weekend.

Lone Star Rally

We went to the Lone Star Rally in Glaveston, TX the first week of November. Wow, almost half a million people were there. We saw lots of motorcycles, even some we would like to buy, and had a great time!

New T Shirt Quilt

Started a new t-shirt quilt that will be a Christmas present. I always cut the shirts in half and lay them out to take a look at the colors and pictures. This helps me with the design. As you can see, Sam wanted to help with the design too.

Audrey's Red Purse

I made myself a 10 pocket purse with orange and turquoise batiks, I made my daughter a 10 pocket purse with sweets fabric. Then I made my sister in law a 10 pocket purse with her red fabric. Went to the post office, put the red purse in a flat rate Priority Mail box and the post office lost it! So far, after two weeks they have not found it.

Sigh

The black and gold quuilt is coming along. I especially like the t-shirt in the center.

Sam is supervising again. He doesn't even blink when I get the camera out!

More of the Black and Gold Quilt

The black and gold quilt is going together. The center of the quilt will be assembled and then I will pick the border. A school t-shirt will be in the the middle block.

Of course Sam supervised my work today! Baby was under the table in her basket and would not come out to get her picture taken.

Black and Gold Quilt

This will be a Christmas present for a high school student. Since the quilt is for a boy, I didn't want to make it floral or fussy. This is the first block of 24. And, of course, a picture of Sam! Baby does NOT cooperate when I get the camera out.

Seashells and Sanddollars

This fabric yelled at me at I walked by! The colors in the three fabrics are wonderful and the print is right on target for me. The block pattern is called Card Trick. I made a few changes to use only three fabrics. When the quilt top is completed, I will post a picture.

Sweets Purse

My daughter saw my new purse with the ten pockets and wanted one of her own. So, I made her one with fabric that had desserts on it!

aliens

I loved this fabric when I saw it, so big surprise, I bought it. I made it with a kid in mind. The colors are bright, it has polyester batting for ease and speed in washing and drying and it is the right size for a nap.

New Purse and, of course, Sam

This week I finally got the Lone Star Rally t-shirt quilt off the quilting machine. It's 100 inches by 100 inches and took a while to quilt and bind. Pictures later!

Right now, look at my new purse. I love the batik and it has 10 pockets. I took a picture and then filled it up. Pockets are good.

Sam still assists me whenever I am quilting. But in this picture he was watching me make my purse.

Lone Star quilt is next.

Sam in a Box

Many quilters use pizza type boxes to store quilt pieces that have been cut, but not sewn together. The boxes keep the pieces in order and easy to find.

I know this same story has been told here before . . . I walked away from my work table for a minute and when I returned Sam was sitting in the box with the fabric and the pattern. He stayed long enough for me to get the camera and take his picture.

Lone Star Bike Rally - 2010

We went to the Lone star Bike Rally in November 2010. Just me and 450,000 other people! Downtown Galveston is called the Strand. Early in the morning, before everyone is awake. the Strand looks like the first picture. The Strand looked a little different during the Lone Star Rally (second picture).
