Christmas Quilts

Some fabric is too fantastic to cut up.  Here are two of them. The Coyote Choir fabric is one of my favorites.  The quilt has a border of cowboy boots with red and green Christmas trees!  The second one has cowboy snowmen! The border says HoHoHo.

Texas State Fair Winner!!!!

The Texas State Fair is one of the largest in the country and is a lot of fun.  We always go to the car show, try the food winners (Deep Fried Cheesecake is my all time favorite), look at all the new quilting machines and walk about 50 miles around the fair grounds!

This year I entered a quilt in the State Fair competition and won second place.  Woo Hoo. The quilt is called Christmas Jars and it is quilted all over in gold thread.  The jars and the lids are zig zag and the white background is quilted heavily to give it a gilded look.

Charlie Brown Christmas

While browsing the Blue Ribbon Quilt Shop in Wylie, TX, they showed me Charlie Brown Christmas fabric.  I loved it!  The quilt was finished quickly and my friend fell in love with the quilt and bought it.

I did manage to take a couple pictures before she grabbed it!

Queen size Fusion Quilt

I love making quilts with lots and lots of pieces! This quilt kept me busy for a few weeks! Just listed on etsy, but a picture of the backing wouldn't fit. Since the top is soooooo nice, I didn't want to use a picture of the back on the Etsy site!

Whose Wine, What Wine Quilt

During one of my shopping trips to fabric stores (my weakness) I saw this wine fabric. The Peter Frampton song, Whose Wine, What Wine started running through my head. I had to buy the fabric AND the matching wine bottle border fabric.
Since I bought the fabric without a plan in mind, had to find a setting to make it shine. The Attic Window pattern was perfect. The wine bottles, casks, labels and glasses are the focol point and they look great. I was very pleased with the results.
The front is quilted with buttered rum thread and the back has spanish moss green thread. Love the names of the colors!
This is definitely art that will keep you warm!

Wine Bottle Placemats

My quilting machine had to go to the shop for a tune up. :(  So, in order to keep myself busy, I made these placemats with the extra fabric from a wine bottle quilt (you will see that one at a later date).

The placemats turned out gorgeous.  There are two of each picture.  The border is wine bottles and I quilted them in a golden brown thread.  The pictures are outline quilted and the bottle borders are quilted on  a grid.

The binding is double fold and is hand stitched to the back.  The placemats are four mini quilts!

Texas Quilt

Saw the Texas fabric from Moda a couple months ago and had to buy some.  I do LIVE in Texas!  The colors are amazing and the quilt turned out great.  Take a look and let me know what you think.

My First Pattern!

I have made many, many quilts, but always using a published pattern. Now, my first pattern is complete. It is called Sam's Favorite. The pattern will be included with a quilt kit in my etsy store.
The pattern has been tested and tested and now there is a quilt in my etsy store that was made from the pattern. It will also be the picture with the pattern.
Take a look!

Port of Galveston

The Port of Galveston is getting busier. The Carnival Magic now comes into Galveston and it is HUGE! The passenger terminals look very small in comparison to the ship. Can't wait for the first Disney ship to come in. I think it might have ears. I'll try to get a pciture.

2011 Holidays

The holidays were very busy for me. Much shopping, cooking and visitng. But not much quilting. I did buy more fabric to make a Mardis Gras quilt, a sports quilt and some nice patterns.

Baby, the feline boss that prefers completed quilts, took over the Christmas quilt around the bottom of the tree. I would straighten it up and she would move it around to sit on!
